An ancestral olive growing activity
0
0
The original pastoral populations of Mont Bastide, west of the current village of Èze, already cultivated olive trees in groves carved out of the rock between the current Moyenne and Grande Corniche. Olive growing was one of their main activities, and their renowned oil was exported to Liguria, the French Riviera, and Marseille. Presses and settling basins have been found on the archaeological site of Mont Bastide. They bear witness to the daily life of this perched village and its inhabitants, the ancestors of contemporary olive growers.
