Since April 1990, the village of Lauzerte has been listed among the Plus Beaux Villages de France (Most Beautiful Villages of France). They are chosen for the quality of their heritage, architecture, and environment after a rigorous selection process. Such reward also requires constant work in order to keep it. Lauzerte is one of the three villages to bear this title in the Tarn-et-Garonne department, along with Auvillar and Bruniquel. The town sits on the top of a hill surrounded by limestone plateaus and valleys lined with Chasselas grapevines.
