Among the few respite chapels in Provence

The pilgrimages to Notre-Dame de Beauvoir in Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, encouraged by the Church which granted or sold indulgences to pilgrims, took, in the 17th century, the particular form of children's suscitations (arousals). Stillborn infants were transported to the chapel, where they resuscitated the time of their baptism. This miracle allowed their religious burial within the walls of the churchyard and ensured the salvation of their souls. The chapel of Notre-Dame de Beauvoir was one of the rare respite chapels in Provence.
