Better known as Utah Beach

Madeleine Beach, located in Sainte-Marie-du-Mont on the north-east coast of the Cotentin, is better known today by its code name Utah Beach. It was given by the Allies at the time of the Normandy landing in June 1944. This beach is the westernmost of the five landing beaches and the only one located in the Manche department. It stretches for about three miles (five kilometers) along the coastline that separates Beauguillot from Foucarville.
