The Airbus A380 is a very large long-haul, four-engine, twin-deck civil airliner, produced by Airbus from 2004 to 2021. Its components were manufactured and assembled in various European countries, mainly in France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom. The final assembly was carried out at the site in Toulouse, France. The A380 programme, with a total development cost of EUR 8 billion, was launched in the mid-1990s under the name of Airbus A3.. led by Jean Pierson, then managing director of Airbus. The first flight took place on 27 April 2005 and the first commercial service was conducted on 25 October 2007 by Singapore Airlines. The A380 is, in 2022, the largest civilian passenger aircraft in service and the fourth largest aircraft in the history of aeronautics
