Agro-pastoralism – which is deeply rooted in rural practices in Auvergne – has the double advantage of preserving the mountain environment in summer and allowing snow to be fixed on the ski slopes in winter. The ski slopes that coexist in this photo with the grazing areas illustrate the discrepancy between two visions of the mountain that need to be reconciled: that of the breeders and that of the tourism industry.
