In Honduras, along the Patuca river, the Tawahkas people practice a shifting cultivation, based on self-supply. Farmers regularly alternate the cultivation of different plots: the most recently farmed soils are put to rest (fallow land) and they use another more fertile land. Women are in charge of harvesting.
