Aerial view of Tegucigalpa

Originally nestled in the hollow of a valley at about 1,000 meters altitude, Tegucigalpa slowly spread on the slopes of the mountains that surround it. In the XVIth century, Spanish settlers settled near the village of Taguzgalpa, meaning silver hill.
Capital city of Honduras since 1880, Tegucigalpa is today a combination of this colonial history and of an obvious modernity.
