Adapting Alençon lace to buildings
0
0
Since April 2018, a large fresco has been displayed on the facade of the porch of the Musée des Beaux-Arts et de la Dentelle (Museum of Fine Arts and Lace) in Alençon in the Orne department. The pattern inspired by a design and lace created by the lacemakers of the Atelier national du Point d'Alençon (Point d'Alençon National Workshop) in the 1980s was adapted to the facade and windows in close collaboration with the architect of the Bâtiments de France (Buildings of France) in order to respect the architectural environment. It allows the lace, too fragile to leave the museum's premises, to be exposed to the light of day.
