Acropores are a diverse genus of more than one hundred species of hard corals with multiple shapes ranging from low and compact shapes to high tubular and bushy branches. These species have different growths depending on their location, and in particular on the strength of the current. Acropores can use their digestive cells to get rid of overgrown neighbors.
