Orient Lake extends within humid Champagne, in the heart of the Orient Forest. It has been classified as a special area of conservation since 1986. The lake constitutes a site of great ornithological value, with dozens of bird species, many of which are protected. It is also home to abundant fauna, with red deers, roe deers, and wild boars multiplying in its surrounding forest. Red foxes frequently roam Orient Lake's banks, along with pine martens, garden dormice, and hazel dormice.
