The Grand Hôtel of Cabourg in the Calvados department has been listed as a Historical Monument for its facades and roofs since June 10, 2014. Together with the neighboring casino, it constitutes one of the most coherent and best-preserved seaside resort ensembles from the Belle Epoque. Now owned by the Accor group under the Mgallery brand, the complex rebuilt in 1907 by the architects Lucien Viraut and Émile Mauclerc forms the central point from which the fan-shaped streets of the city center start. The Grand Hôtel is renowned for having been regularly frequented between 1907 and 1914 by Marcel Proust (1871-1922). The author is said to have written some of the most beautiful pages of his work In Search of Lost Time from room 414, on the 4th floor.
