The 12th-century Saint-Laurent Basilica of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue was erected into the Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame-des-Anges on May 12, 1222, by the Bishop of Cavaillon. A major witness of Provençal baroque architecture, it also impresses with the richness of its interior ornaments (canvases, statues, wall decorations, sculpted woodwork, a choir dressed with a 49 ft / 15 m high altarpiece...) and its 15th-century organ listed as a Historical Monument. Completely rebuilt between the 15th and 17th centuries, Saint-Laurent Basilica has a Comtadin Gothic apse and a Renaissance-style bell tower.
