A wild cove on the southern Caribbean coast

On the southern Caribbean coast of Martinique, Anse-Noire and its curious black sand beach are accessible by a small path that leaves the departmental road at the top of Morne Bigot between Anse-à-l'Ane and Grande Anse d'Arlet and descends towards Anse-Noire and Anse-Dufour. Overlooked by the steep slopes of the neighboring hills (mornes) and drowned in luxuriant vegetation, it forms a small wild cove very different from the other beaches of the southern island. This cove wedged between two cliffs plunging into the sea is discovered first from the top of the rocky peak that separates it from its neighbor Anse-Dufour. A staircase of 136 steps on the side of the rock then allows visitors to descend to the beach.
