The fish freshly caught by the artisanal fishermen in Marseille are sold directly on the fish market of the Old Port by weight and by auction by the fishermen themselves, their wives, or their family circles. The offer varies and depends on the deliveries, themselves linked to the fishing methods and sites and the seasons, but also quotas and temporary bans. The stalls are often filled with scorpionfish, red mullets, gurnards, sardines, anchovies, sea breams, sea basses, mackerels, mullets, soles, or eels.
