The pastoral management of the site of the Malrif lakes in the Queyras massif allows a relatively good state of preservation of the flora and habitats, attested by the abundance of wild mammals. This natural area has seventeen determining plant species as well as six remarkable plant species, most of which are protected at a national or regional level. Six heritage animal species ranging from the Golden Eagle to the Lanza Salamander and several butterflies have also been listed around the three lakes.
