The vulture is a scavenging bird that mainly feeds on the corpses of domestic animals. Such characteristics make it an essential natural butcher and economical for breeders. It, therefore, largely depends on their activity and survives thanks to the winter mortality of wild animals as well. The four types of vultures found in the Causses region are part of a group of different specimens that have evolved together in relation to their environment and food availability. Griffon vultures first feed on muscles and viscera, then Monk vultures eat the tougher parts like the ligaments and tendons. Afterward, the Egyptian vultures are content with the small remaining waste, and bearded vultures finally feed on the bones.
