Located on the territory of the municipality of Bormes-les-Mimosas in the Var department, the Trapan dam forms a 67-acres (27 ha) water impoundment in the Maures Massif. Its vocation as a drinking water reservoir for the coastal towns to the east of Toulon prohibits it from navigation and swimming. Access is now also forbidden to fishermen, blocked by a fence. Nevertheless, numerous walkers continue to enjoy the flowering of mimosas in winter there.
