Veules-les-Roses is a small seaside resort nestled in a valley of the Côte d'Albâtre (Alabaster Coast). Established in the 4th century, it is also one of the oldest villages in the Pays de Caux. Its name comes from the Saxon well or water point. The town's Norman houses, with thatched roofs, and mills indeed stand along the Veules river. Veules-les-Roses is above all a village of fishermen, watercress growers, and weavers. The 19th and 20th centuries made it a seaside resort frequented by artists.
