A versatile and traditional plant

Flax culture is a regional tradition in the Norman countryside and along the coast. Considered Normandy's green gold, the plant has numerous properties. Its seeds are rich in omega-3 and allow the cooking of sought-after cakes. The textiles obtained from linen fibers are much more resistant to wear and would warp much less over time compared to cotton. Norman fibers are highly valued worldwide for their resistance and incomparable quality. The region accounts for 50% of the world's production, and the Terre de Lin cooperative, established in Saint-Pierre-le-Viger in the Seine-Maritime department, gathers 600 members responsible for 15% of international premium quality fibers.
