A veil acquired thanks to a sponsorship

The Museum of Fine Arts and Laces bought an imposing 75 sq ft (7 m²) wedding veil from the end of the 20th century, of which less than a dozen examples remain in the world. The urban community of Alençon acquired it in 2018 thanks to a sponsorship undertaken by the La Dentelle au Point d'Alençon association and the Fondation du Patrimoine (Heritage Foundation). The veil has the particularity of grouping together all the known points, which suggests that it must have competed somewhere before being sold. Though the recipient is unknown, it is believed to be the work of Maison Huignard, one of the last lacemakers in Alençon.
