Of all the attributes attached to the bulls competing in Camargue races, the strings are the most difficult to catch, as they are coiled around the horns several times. Depending on the ranking of the bulls, the number of turns varies from eight for the best animals to thirty for the most inexperienced. The raseteurs try to catch the strings with a hook, but the best bulls often manage to keep theirs on.
