The pink flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus) is a large wading bird with pink feathers whose presence in Camargue, a vast wetland in the Rhône delta, has been documented since Antiquity and continues to attract many visitors. Although close to the Grebes family, the flamingo owes its specificity to its color, its size (3.6 to 4.9 ft / 1.1 to 1.5 m in adulthood for 4.4 to 8.8 lbs / 2 to 4 kg), and the particular adaptation of its curved beak fitted with thin lamellae of keratin.
