The Tellure mining park extends on an old mine that has existed since 1549. The miners' equipment has evolved significantly since the Middle Ages. Despite an average temperature of 50° F (10° C) and constant water runoff, they only had a linen hood covering their heads and a poor-quality coat. They often worked seated on a leather skin attached to their belt, pounding on gneiss hard rock and filling buckets that are risen to the surface. The water that invades the galleries had to be frequently drained, and the tallow lamps barely illuminated the premises. Today, traces of silver, copper, lead, and quartz still appear in some places.
