The letters and decorations are glued to the false bell, whether it is in steel or clay. The wax letters are formed in molds made from boxwood, plaster, or elastomer. The ornaments also contain figures of patron saints, scrolls, coats of arms as well as the date and the name of the sponsor. The know-how of bell smelters is transmitted from generation to generation as no specific training exists in France.
