Granville represents the meeting between the coastline and the Norman bocage. The Granville Terre et Mer community of communes and the Association Boisement Pays de la Baie have initiated campaigns to reforest hedgerows with nearly 5,000 plants per year. On the coast, beach and dune cleaning operations have led to Plat Gousset Beach being awarded 1st place and obtaining the Blue Flag label in 2021. The urban planning of Granville and the surrounding areas are also carefully studied in order to protect the environment and the Norman heritage.
