A tourist top place for the Occitanie region

The third most visited and popular tourist destination of the Occitanie region, the site of the 9 locks of Fonséranes is surpassed in popularity only by the Gard Bridge and the medieval city of Carcassonne. The reason for its touristic success is undoubtedly the technical prowess represented by this complex construction surrounded by the green nature around the city of Beziers. Before becoming a tourist top place for the region, these 9 locks (actually one single lock with 8 basins) were necessary to facilitate the many boats’ navigation.
