A theater from the first century
0
0
The Roman theater of Vaison-la-Romaine in the Vaucluse department has been dated thanks to the marble statue of Tiberius discovered in front of the royal door. It would have been built during the first century AD, probably during the reign of the fourth Roman emperor, Claudius, born on August 1 of the year 10 BC in Lugdunum (Lyon) and died on October 13, 54 in Rome. Leaning against a hill, the theater bears witness to the prosperity of the ancient city of Vasio, of which it constitutes one of the few public buildings still visible today.
