The territory of the commune of Gordes in the Vaucluse department is mainly (56.38 %) made up of natural areas composed of Mediterranean forests and scrublands which cover the Monts de Vaucluse to the north. The southern part of the plain and Calavon valley is a vast agricultural area where fruit orchards - in particular olive trees and almond trees - coexist with lavandin fields, vines and truffle oak groves.
