Located in the Alpine furrow at the confluence of the Isère and its tributary the Arly as well as at the crossroads of four valleys (Tarentaise, Beaufortain, Val d'Arly, Combe de Savoie), Albertville - in the Savoie department - is surrounded by the massifs of the Bauges to the west, Beaufortain to the north, Lauzière to the south and Grand Arc. The 4,334 acres (1,754 ha) of the municipal territory extend between 1,076 and 6,660 ft (328 and 2,030 m) above sea level. They are marked by the importance of the forests that cover half (49.7%) of the municipal area.
