The hillsides and forests of the Marne region are steeped in history. With a surface area of 530 km2, the Parc naturel régional de la Montagne de Reims (Montagne de Reims Regional Nature Park) comprises a wooded plateau, surrounded by the slopes of the Champagne vineyards. Vines are an integral part of the local landscape, culture, and local economy. Fifty-seven historical monuments are spread over the municipalities of the park, including 22 religious buildings, 13 champagne estates, 6 parks, and gardens. The park was created in 1976.
