Surrounded by the Nice pre-Alps peaks of Mont Agel (3,776 ft / 1,151 m) and Baudon (4,153 ft / 1,266 m), the village of Gorbio in the Alpes-Maritimes department enjoys a microclimate that allows it to avoid both winter frost and summer heatwaves. In 2021, the locality thus recorded a coolest temperature of 35.78° F (2.1° C) and a heat record of 87.8° F (31.4° C). Such characteristics partly explain the demographic boom experienced by the village, whose population of 1,547 inhabitants in 2018 had increased by 18.36% compared to 2013.
