The main role of the Conservatoire du Littoral (Coastal Protection Agency) - the owner of the Domaine du Rayol since 1989 - is to acquire sites on the sea and lake coasts. As such, it purchases an average of 7,410 acres (3,000 ha) per year and records a daily bill of sale. The Coastal Protection Agency then entrusts the management, monitoring, and animation of the sites to local authorities, other public establishments, or associations.
