Generously shaded by coconut palms, Anse-Noire is bordered by a strip of black sand of volcanic origin. It constitutes a real attraction on the southern Caribbean coast of Martinique, where all the beaches are white sand. It would have been formed 2.5 million years ago from lava flows from a volcano located at the site of the current Morne Yoyo. A large pontoon serving as a landing deck for the diving club on the beach as well as a few fishermen's boats and their nets and racks drying on the branches complete a site also renowned for the richness of its seabed. The bungalows of a small hotel restaurant are hidden by vegetation.
