The common spruce (Picea abies) has a superficial and tracing root system that makes it all the more sensitive to the wind as its size is high and its bole straight. Its very tight implantation in spruce forests, such as the one surrounding Lake Servières, limits the risk of uprooting linked to gales by protecting the individuals by the group. Young or old, the common spruce retains a conical shape with a sharp crown.
