A sport of records

Kitesurfing is a sport of records whose practitioners, carried by the ocean and pushed by the wind, constantly push the limits by jumping ever higher or sailing ever faster, further, and longer. Thus, the coveted record for the highest jump in kitesurfing was recorded at 114.17 ft (34.80 m). The absolute speed on water record, all distances combined, was recorded at 66.71 mph (107.36 km/h). For long-distance enthusiasts, the endurance record - i.e. the longest distance traveled on water in a single kite session - was set at 535.6 miles (862 km) in 47 hours and 37 minutes between Lisbon in Portugal and the archipelago of Madeira, off the coast of Morocco.
