A solidarity and respectful fishing technique
0
0
The pride of the Martinicans and a contribution to their sense of identity, seine fishing is an ancient and traditional fishing technique inherited from the Caribbean Indians. Although in significant decline, this collective, participatory, sporting, and solidarity practice continues on several beaches in Martinique such as those of Bellefontaine and Raisiniers, in Anse Dufour, and by the Vauclin seaside. There, pulling the seine at sunrise is still part of the island's cultural heritage. This fishing, which connects people by providing everyone with work and dignity, also respects the reproduction of fish as well as the preservation of the seabed and ecosystems.
