A sociable and expressive bird
Greater flamingos (Phœnicopterus roseus) are sociable and particularly expressive birds that quack with sounds reminiscent of those of geese. While their typical flight call is loud and repeated, they produce a softer, continuous babbling on land when feeding and nasal growls during parades and mating rituals. Greater flamingos have a strong voice from the beginning of their life, and a real hubbub reigns in the colonies.
