Carnoules is a small town of 3,490 inhabitants located in the Var center, between Toulon and the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, on the railway line that connects Nice to Marseille. This strategic location has earned Carnoules a long railway tradition since it once had 500 railway workers in the only steam traction depot between Nice and Marseille, where all trains had to stop to change their locomotive. The heart of the village is organized around Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption Church, built in 1842 on Place Gabriel Péri.
