A small and traditional fishing harbor

Barfleur is a small fishing harbor known for scallops and wild mussels or blondes de Barfleur. This mooring port mixes different fishing units and pleasure boats. Its houses' roofs are decorated with finials in the shape of birds and twisted ridges like lace in local Noron earth. The 17th-century Saint-Nicolas church, surrounded by its small cemetery, juts out from the end of the quay. It adjoins the first Rescue Station of France (1865), created on the model of the English stations.
