A slightly curved bridge

Inaugurated in December 2004, the Millau Viaduct is 105 ft (32 m) wide. The bridge accommodates a four-lane divided highway with two emergency lanes. Dry air ventilation and a water recovery system prevent its corrosion. Its architecture is slightly curved (12.4 miles / 20 km radius of curvature) in order to avoid the feeling of floating. The Millau Viaduct leans on the Causse du Larzac and the Causse Rouge thanks to a solid concrete structure.
