A sky conducive to astronomical research
0
0
The particularly clear and usually unpolluted sky of the Hautes-Alpes allowed the installation of an astronomical observatory at Moydans in the west of the department. Opened in January 2013, the Baronnies Observatory was designed for sky monitoring missions (asteroids and space debris) as well as for the search and monitoring of exoplanets. It is equipped with internet-based remote control services for some of its telescopes - such as its 820 mm robotic telescope placed under a dome - which can therefore be used by both neophytes and professional astronomers.
