At the GHM foundry, art casting has been a common thread since 1857. With precise gestures and sober words, its workers manipulate the molten metal in a skilfully regulated ballet. The factory is renowned worldwide for the high quality and flowability of its cast iron. The statues, fountains, or pieces of street furniture crafted at GHM adorn numerous cities throughout the globe. The artisan-founders handle incandescent masses up to 2,553° F (1,400° C) in ladles made from refractory materials. The manufacturing techniques have hardly changed since the first third of the 19th century.
