The Fort de Brégançon, which became the summer residence of the presidents of the French Republic in 1968, was opened to the public for the first time in 2014, under François Hollande. The inhabitants of Bormes-les-Mimosas had the scoop of its opening and were welcomed on the site's premises on June 28, 2014, before the extension of the right to visit to all on the following day. Visitors can wander freely in the gardens after a guided tour of the buildings that welcome up to 640 persons per day during the summer opening period.
