A saint worshiped throughout Alsace
0

Dominating the entire Alsace plain from the top of her bell tower, Sainte-Odile has been a figure of the region for 1,300 years. She is worshiped everywhere in Alsace. After she miraculously regained her sight on the day of her baptism, she took the name Odile, which means daughter of light. She has been the unofficial patron saint of Alsace since the 17th century and official since 1946. I often say that every Alsatian was born at Mont Sainte-Odile, comments Father Patrick Koehler, rector of the Mont since 2010.
