The town hall of Trouville-sur-Mer has not always stood on its current location. It was built at La Cahotte, by the sea, in 1859-1860. More than 50 years later, the fashion for seaside resorts saw a casino erected a few feet away. For the sake of aesthetics, the old town hall was razed and rebuilt in 1913 on its current site. During the two years of construction, elected officials stayed at the Hôtel Meurice.
