The Camargue horse is a rustic, manageable, and enduring horse with an excellent sense of direction and a good knowledge of the nature of the soil, whose dangers it appreciates and instinctively avoids. It moves easily with an amble-like step on all types of terrain, from sandy areas to marshes and muddy bottoms that are very common in Camargue. The horse's changes of gait and its starts are quick, especially when it is working on sorting bulls.
