Inaugurated in 1452, the Grande Salle des Pôvres (Great Hall of the Poor) of the Hospices de Beaune served as the main treatment room. Remarkable for its dimensions (164 ft / 50 m long, 45 ft / 14 m wide, and 52 ft / 16 m high), it also stands out with its inverted hull (or cradled) framework in oak paneling adorned with polychrome transverse beams. Several decorative elements (tiles, stained glass, wall decorations) bear the monogram of Nicolas Rolin intertwined with the initial of his wife, Guigone de Salins.
