Pierre Daniel lives in the Hautes Combes near Septmoncel les Molunes in the Jura department. Every winter, he offers sleigh rides with his husky draft dogs. One has to know his dogs well to harness them. The dominant and more obedient individual always takes the lead, followed by the helpers in the middle and the slower and more resistant dogs at the back. When the huskies struggle to move through the forest in times of heavy snow, Pierre Daniel takes paths less cluttered with trunks. A dog can pull the equivalent of its weight. With a snow-sled friction of 5%, the pack has a feeling of 11 lbs (5 kg) for a load of 220 lbs (100 kg).
