A rigorous monastic community
0
0
The site of Cluny in the Saône-et-Loire department is not limited to its abbey church. It also constitutes the place of life for an important monastic community. As such, it includes many outbuildings designed and arranged in such a way as to organize the life of the monks rigorously according to the rule of Saint Benedict. This rule, made up of seventy-three chapters, punctuates the day of the community around the eight daily religious services, reading, study, and manual work sessions. It allows a balanced life, shared between prayer and action, individual and community activities.
